Tip off for artists this is what we need.
politic, song, song writing, songs, songwriting political, songwritingI got a send-out of new songs. This time it was a girl that released a new single. She opened with the words that make me allergic “The song It’s about a personal experience I went through”. Someone said that authors should write about things they know. The problem is if you write about things that everyone goes through it’s not that interesting to hear your saying around it, like the toothbrush song would be horrible, even though most people brush their teeth we don’t need a song around it.
Same here, the song the artist sent was about the artist ending a long relationship. That is just life, we all do that. Like all people who wrote loneliness songs during COVID-19, yes we were all lonely, and we don’t want to hear you whine about it.
If you are doing a song with a theme that all people mostly go through you need to do it in a very special way. We don’t care about songs about you, your bitches, money, or stuff like that.
The tip-off that we need right now is political songs. Write how you feel not what you experienced. Music has always been a good weapon to scare stupid politicians or rally people around. We need it more than ever and artists is writing songs about there not so perfect breakfast. Right now it’s a golden opportunity to protest with a good song that has the right meaning.
This song should be played so much, but it was actually done seven years ago when dumb Donnie was elected. We need more like this.
To be honest most songs that become classics usually have some political thing. Dumb Donnie things “Born in the USA” is a song about how great the USA is, well no it’s a political protest song about the USA. Even a happy song like Men at works “Down Under” is political about plundering Australia.
And I miss artist that want political change like The Clash against the commercial world.
Or the angry tunes around Rage Against the Machine.
Or even the Ramones about Ronald Reagan.
Stop before you just send me your political song that you did. It must have a meaning. It must be smart if it is about climate change or things that we already know. And you have to believe in it and be uncomfortable for many people. You have to have a song that people will hate you for, but you believe in the message.
And you don’t need to be angry. Here is a great tune with a great message. Imagine today we have Temu and Shein.
